Akron

This is the Deluxe Edition of AKRON, a board game for 2 players by Cameron Browne.

Akron is a generalization of standard connection games (such as Hex, Unlur,...) to three dimensions. The pieces consist of balls of two colors placed in a square grid. One player seeks to connect the top and bottom edge by pieces of his color, while the other player seeks to connect left and right. The twist that makes the game three dimensional is that under certain circumstances you can place a ball on the space supported by four balls already on the board. In a novel twist, moves can make balls drop to change the connection on the board.

Components: 8x8 black acrylic board (8mm thick, 23 cm side), 4 side marker rods (2 white, 2 red), 32 white balls and 32 red balls (25mm diameter), 2 white bags for keeping the balls, 45x33x5 cm paperstock box. The balls are made of phenolic resin (same balls as in Shibumi Samurai).

You might wish to purchase the more affordable Standard Edition instead.
